But it wasn’t all spray tans and sunshine. COVID and several Doctor's appointments with California's leading Toxicologist forced me to pivot to a mobile-only service for my health. This shift lead to my greatest industry insights I'm now excited to share with spray tan artists through my mentoring membership, The Heather® Method.
I’ve experienced it all — the highs, the lows, and the pure moments of human connection that come with helping others feel confident in their skin.
It all started at the most popular La Jolla tanning salon during high school, where I worked for $8/hour. Little did I know, the tanning industry would become my calling.
After moving to LA, I honed my skills and became a top performer at Sunset Tan, the Hollywood elite of spray tanning. This led to launching my own brand, heather® tans on Sunset Boulevard, where I earned perennial Best of Beauty accolades and trained aspiring spray tan artists across the U.S. and Canada.

- About 24 hours before your appointment, shower, exfoliate, and shave. If you have other beauty appointments (nails, waxing, facials, massages, etc.), make sure to do those before your appointment with us.
- Come to your appointment fresh, with no lotions, oils, makeup, or beauty products on your skin.
- Post-tan, make sure you’re wearing long, loose-fitting clothes to allow your tan to develop. Think maxi dresses, loose pants, and oversized shirts!
Are there steps I should take to prepare for my tanning appointment?
I’m really pale! Will an airbrush tan look natural on me?
An airbrush tan should last 7-10 days, depending on how often you exfoliate and how well you care for your tan.
How long will my tan last?
Here’s how to exfoliate like a pro:
- Use a gentle, non-abrasive body scrub
- Apply your body scrub with exfoliating gloves, a washcloth, or a loofa
- Apply with circular movements and light pressure
How do I make my tan last longer?
Do you customize your tanning solutions?
- Ladies: Most women tan nude to avoid tan lines. If you prefer tan lines, wear a solid string thong. Avoid lace bottoms as the solution may seep through.
